Patricia Ware, DVM
Dr. Ware, born and raised in Maryland, lived most of her younger life in Anne Arundel County. She lived on a farm, raising crops and thoroughbreds, and enjoying life in the outdoors. She knew by age five that she wanted to be a veterinarian. Her family was actively involved in the Conestoga Vizsla Club, showing their dogs successfully in bench, obedience and field. Local wildlife rescue, dog and horse shows were prominent activities during her high school years. After graduating from Dickinson College in Pennsylvania with a B.S. in Biology, she spent a year at the University of Florida enrolled in a post-baccalaureate animal science program.
Dr. Ware graduated from Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine, with clinical rotations at Guelph University in Toronto and Oklahoma State veterinary schools, as well as an externship at Apollo Equine Center in Pittsburgh. She began practicing in Rhode Island and Massachusetts, and then returned to Maryland where she purchased Benfield Village Veterinary Hospital (now Severn River Animal Hospital) in Severna Park. After her twin daughters arrived, she sold the practice to have more family time. She worked part-time at local hospitals, including South Arundel and then full-time for 10 years at a practice near her home on Kent Island. While there she became actively involved assisting the local animal control with animal abuse cases. After taking a year off to sail with her family, we welcome her back to South Arundel.
Dr. Ware’s special interests include dermatology, geriatrics, behavior, and complicated internal medicine cases, along with avian and exotics medicine. She enjoys reading and caring for her dogs and an Eclectus parrot. Her free time now is spent taking long walks with her energetic Vizslas, riding horses, and sailing with her husband and teenage daughters on the Bay, and to far away places.
